Aaron Tang
I'm a junior at Carnegie Mellon University studying ECE & finance, a programmer, 7x hackathon winner, and a board member at The Silicon Project, a 501(c)(3). I live in New York City and spend most of my time solving problems I find interesting.
I'm captivated by storytelling and cross-examining problems from liberal arts and engineering perspectives. To achieve complex technical systems is an elegant science, but I'm a firm believer in accounting for how humans think, feel, and behave.
Complex ideas become powerful when they're accessible. I draw my inspirations from the likes of (nonexhaustive) Dieter Rams, the Eames, Jim Simons, Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg, Albert Camus, and more recently, Karen Hao.

TTYL
Built premium intelligence for emotionally driven conversations with AI. Inspired by our friends on Hinge, initially built it as a game to help users practice their texting skills with our AI 'Ava'. Featured tooling such as blocking users if interest decayed and a date agreement upon success of user being able to hold up the conversation. Shipped in 1 week during jury duty, 400+ users, $3.99 mrr. Learned an incredible amount about prompt + context engineering, multi-layered memory heuristics, model optimization, parameter efficient fine tuning, open source LLMs, prompt caching, structured outputs, tool use. Technicalities made me more skeptical of AGI.
Paul Graham App
Fed Paul Graham's essays and thoughts into a RAG pipeline and built a web app to help those without direct access to his person gain insight from his mentorship and voice. Inspired by Sam Altman after attending YC AI Startup School. Shipped in 1 day, app reached 300+ users in 48 hours. Had a blast.

We Care Act
Junior year of high school and post-COVID started a subsidiary org. under the Texas nonprofit, We Care Act. We initially coordinated park pickups, e-waste donations, and general volunteerisms to students. As STEM students, we dedicated nontrivial efforts to raising money and donating good computers we received as e-waste to students who couldn't afford personal devices. A trend formed: companies wanted to donate devices, but didn't know where to. People needed laptops, but there's no such thing as free lunch. So we started handing out free lunch. We've now distributed over $400,000 worth of devices across three countries and fostered relationships with donors including the Ralph Lauren family, Nicole Miller, Supreme, Jim Simon's foundation, and dozens of companies + nonprofits around the U.S.

Bronx Science Science Olympiad
Created a static informational website for the Science Olympiad team to streamline news updates from Discord. Got my first taste of web development and the hackathon scene. Procured a love for perfectionism and minimalism design.
I am currently driven toward building experiences that prompt familiarity among those distrustful of emergent technologies and AI.
